A
couple of years ago Ford initiated an advertisement campaign that was
based on the premise of out of the box moves. It was designed to let the
buying public know that the company was not afraid to step out of the
box. It was the precursor to vehicles like the F-150 Raptor, the Flex
and the Fusion Hybrid. Though marketing of this type is no longer being
done, Ford is still going against the norm. The Ford C-Max Hybrid is the latest “bold move”. It is not a seven passenger gas only van but it is a 5 passenger, version that is solely hybrid.
The C-Max Energi and the C-Max Hybrid use a four
cylinder two point zero liter engine along with a motor that is
electric. This pairing in addition to a battery pack (lithium-ion),
produces 141 hp in the basic electric/gas 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid. The
first plug in hybrid for Ford is the C-Max Energi. Based on the
projections that the company has to produce electric vehicles this
version won’t be the last.
